Obituary for Julia Ann Tuck Linthicum Julia Ann Tuck Linthicum
Lexington Resident Dies At Age 91

Julia Ann Tuck Linthicum was born on March 14, 1948 in Berea, Kentucky, to the Rev. Herbert Ellis Tuck and Mary Louise Puster Tuck.

She died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Sunday morning, October 12, 2014 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an adopted son, James R. Linthicum on June 4, 2011.

Julia was the loving wife and faithful co-laborer for Christ married to the Reverend John Glenn Linthicum for 45 years, married in August, 1969.

Their children include one natural born son, Jonathan M. Linthicum (U.S. Navy); three children by adoption, Jane and husband, Brian Smith of Brownsburg, IN, and Allen Joe Linthicum of Muncie, IN. In addition, Yuming and Yong Zhang of New Jersey, and their children Anthony and Allison, along with numerous international exchange student sons and daughters from Brazil, Chile, Germany, Ukraine, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Nigeria.

Grandchildren include Brianna and Amanda Smith of Indianapolis, IN; Ashley Linthicum and brother, Jonathan of Muncie; along with several great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Joyce Tuck of Big Stone Gap, Virginia Tuck of Orlando, FL, and Ruth Dabbs and husband, Gil of Mississippi; a brother, Robert Tuck and wife, Phyllis of Big Stone Gap; one nephew, Nathan and four nieces, Lisa, Amy, Charlotte, and Renee.

As a devoted teacher for 35+ years, Julia impacted the lives of hundreds of children, teaching in Louisville, KY, Bloomfield and Speedway, IN, and in the last 18 years prior to retirement in June 2014, at the Callahan Elementary in Alleghany County.

Together, she and her husband traveled to other countries to both visit their international children and to witness and minister in Christ's name.

An organ donor, her eyes will give sight to others.

She was an active member and teacher of preschool children at the Covington Baptist Church, where she and her husband were members. Oftentimes, she assisted him in language ministry to the Hispanic community, supervising and instructing the adult students' children.

She was a faithful and loving wife, a devoted and capable servant of the Lord, teacher, friend and mother to many.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor. A memorial service will be held on Monday at11:00 a.m. at the Covington Baptist Church, 280 Riverside Street, Covington with Reverend Ted Fuson officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
