Retired DSLCC Secretary Dies At Age 57

Krista Lane Bird Chaudoin, age 57 of 143 Park Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at her residence.

She was born July 16, 1957 in Clifton Forge to Pat Bird Parker and the late William "Bill" Bird.

She was a 1975 graduate of Covington High School and attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

She was a retired secretary for D.S.L.C.C., Blue Ridge Community College, and Dewey O'Conner Insurance Agency.

She loved her family and was proud of being a mother and housewife.

Krista attended St. Stephen's Anglican Church.

She was a lover of music and a big supporter of both the Alleghany High School marching band and the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes.

In addition to her father, Bill Bird, who died in 1970, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Lloyd Lewis Parker in 1992.

She is survived by her husband, Clint Chaudoin of Clifton Forge; her daughter, Logan Chaudoin of Clifton Forge; her mother, Pat Bird Parker of Covington; three brothers, Kenny Bird of Covington, Ben Bird of Clifton Forge, and Bo Bird and wife, Anita of Clifton Forge; a niece, Julia Bird of Roanoke; a nephew, Tristin Bird of Clifton Forge; and a number of uncles, aunts and cousins.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Father Thomas McHenry officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home, as well as following the service.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to the Blue Ridge Cancer Center, 2013 South Jefferson St, Roanoke, VA 24014.
