Obituary for Amy Panebianco Amy Panebianco
Former Buena Vista Resident Was Much-Loved Nurse

Amy Panebianco, 49, of Culpeper, Virginia, and formerly of Buena Vista, Va., made her way to her Heavenly home on Thursday, November 6, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on April 14, 1965, the daughter of the late Henry and Betty Gilbert, Amy grew up in Buena Vista and graduated from PMHS in 1982.

She then went on to earn her nursing degree at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

Amy used her skills as a nurse to comfort many. She most recently worked for Orange County Public Schools as the school nurse. She previously worked 15 years for Rockbridge Area Hospice and several years for Buena Vista City Schools.

Amy enjoyed caring for the sick, but the kids, who so lovingly addressed her as NURSE AMY, were her heart.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Panebianco was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Gilbert; and her long time faithful German Shepherd, Millie.

Left to carry on her memory are her loving husband of 27 years, A.J. Panebianco; son, Scotty and his wife, Jenna; sister, Janet Johnson and her husband, Alan; mother-in-law, Dee Peshel; father-in-law, Ed Panebianco his wife, Darlene; sister-in-law, Gina Parker and her husband, Kevin; brother-in-law, Billy Panebianco and his wife, Sylvia; nephews, Chris Johnson, Dustin and Chase Parker; special friends, Michele Clark, Kathy Morrison, Diana Via, Angie Walker; Christina Heath, all her friends in the Orange County and Buena Vista City School Systems; and her furry companion, Gracie Gray.

Amy touched the lives of all who knew her. She enjoyed crafting, painting and running. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, who made her home warm and welcoming to all who visited.

In addition to her hobbies, Amy loved to spend her time reading and studying her Bible or hanging out and traveling with her friends - making memories to last a lifetime.

Amy's home going service will be held at Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church at 2 p.m. on Monday. November 10, 2014. where she was a long time member, with the Rev. W.A. Mills and the Rev. Tim Morrison officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the German Shepherd Rescue Mission of your choice.
