Obituary for Clarence Arnold Broce Clarence Arnold Broce
Bath County Native Served In Merchant Marine During World War II

Clarence Arnold Broce, 90, of 6805 Jackson River Road, Natural Well, Virginia, died Sunday evening, November 16, 2014 at his residence.

He was born February 13, 1924 in Bath County, a son of the late Luther Hale and Bessie Cline Broce.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Carl "Skinner" Broce and a sister, Elsie Forbes.

Mr. Broce served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He retired from MeadWesctavo in Central Storage and Salvage Department.

Two of Mr. Broce's hobbies were golfing and bowling. He was a long time farmer and frequent blood donor.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mary Bogan Broce of Natural Well; three sons, Doug Broce and his wife, Natalie of Collierstown; Merv Broce of Covington and Tab Broce and his wife, Angie of Hot Springs; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two brothers, Frankie Broce and his wife, Juanita of Hot Springs and Darrell Broce of Roanoke; the "McDonald's Breakfast Crowd" and his faithful dog, "Ammo".

The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Slate officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bill Gilliland.

The entombment will following the Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations in Mr. Broce's name may be made to the Emory United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
