Iron Gate Baptist Church Member Was Iron Gate Native

Phyllis Arlene Clark Balser, age 77, of 110 Crescent Ave, Iron Gate, Virginia, died Monday, December 29, 2014 at her residence.

She was born January 19, 1937 in Iron Gate to the late William Henry and Irene Nicely Clark.

She was a homemaker throughout her life.

She was raised in the Advent Christian faith, and attended Iron Gate Baptist Church.

She was a member of the Clifton Forge Women of the Moose.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dwight Nicely.

She is survived by her husband Robert H. "Bob" Balser of Iron Gate; two sons, Barry Balser and wife, Debbie of Clifton Forge, and Roger Balser and wife, Barbara of Covington; two sisters, Henrietta Nicely of Covington, and Darlene Adkins of Iron Gate; two grandsons, Brad Balser and wife, Priscilla of Clifton Forge, and Scott Balser and girlfriend, Kristen Pullen; three great granddaughters, Bella Balser, Paige Balser and Bailey Balser; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nancy Daniels, Shelby White, Zernie Campbell, Ron Dowd, and Dorothy Helmintoller.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Louis Dodd and Ron Dowd officiating. Interment will follow immediately.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, one hour prior to the service.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
