Obituary for Bernice Ray Perry Bernice Ray Perry
Former Brown's Radio Shop Employee Also Worked With The City Of Covington

Mr. Bernice Ray Perry, age 90, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Brian Center-Alleghany, Low Moor.

He was the husband of the late Grisilda Phillips Perry, late Shirley Lipscomb Perry and the late Mary Louise Perry.

Mr. Perry was born January 30, 1924 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Lester William Perry and Annie Okell McKeever Perry.

A lifetime resident of this community, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during World War II.

During his working career, Ray was a former employee of Brown's Radio Shop, as well as a former employee of O. E. Parker for twenty one years, before working as a building inspector for the City of Covington.

Mr. Perry was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he had been a former deacon, elder, treasurer and trustee.

Ray was also active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as well as the Civitans. He was an avid reader of the Bible as well as other books and loved playing music. Most of all, Ray enjoyed spending time with his family.

Mr. Perry is survived by four sons, Thomas Preston Perry and wife, Diane of Harrisonburg, Timothy Phillip Perry and wife, Marilyn of Chantilly, Mitchell Ray Perry and wife, Tanya of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Christopher William Perry and wife, Lola of Powhatan; one daughter, Joy Bernice Perry Basham and husband, Tom of Nokesville; eleven grandchildren, Lisa Perry Anderson, Sunny Basham Carito, Jennifer Basham Batchelor, Kate Perry Quino–es, Kelli Perry, Matthew Perry, Amanda Perry, Michael Perry, Alex Perry, Owen Ray Perry and Wyatt Perry; seven great grandchildren, Ella Grace Anderson, Paige Batchelor, June Batchelor, Viola Carito, Maxton Quino–es, Natalee Ruth Quinones and Porter Anderson; and a number of step children, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wives, Mr. Perry was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelsey Perry; a great granddaughter, Kinsley Anderson; and two sisters, Glenna Perry Ballard and Hilda Virginia Perry.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2014, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Falling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Steven Anderson, Robert Carito, Alex Perry, Matthew Perry, Michael Perry and Robert Hoke and Pat Loving, friends of the family.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
