Joan Marie Proffitt Traylor, age 72, of 1233 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor.

She was born April 12, 1942 in Appomattox, Virginia, to the late Douglas and Lucille Woody Proffitt.

She was a retired accounting clerk for Pantasote, Inc. and a voter registrar for the town of Clifton Forge.

She is survived by a daughter, Angie Traylor Brooks of Covington; a sister, Janet Cahoon of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren, Ashley Nida of Roanoke and Hayden Brooks of Covington; four nieces and nephews, Tony Cahoon, Debbie Hunt, Patrick Cahoon, and Susan Cahoon; and a special friend, Ginny Dunn.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Brooks, Tony Cahoon, Patrick Cahoon, Chris Hall, Chris Wiley, and Patrick Cahoon, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
