Obituary for Virginia Lamb McCoy Virginia Lamb McCoy
Millboro Resident Was Clothes Closet Chairperson For 17 Years

Virginia Lamb McCoy, age 83, of 134 Sitlington Drive, Millboro, Virginia, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her residence.

She was born July 4, 1931 in Charlottesville to the late Charles Leslie and Carrie Lou Brown Lamb.

She was a homemaker and Certified Nursing Assistant.

She was an active member of Horeb Baptist Church for a number of years, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, the assistant Treasurer of the church, and was chairperson for the Clothes Closet for seventeen years. She also belonged to the Women's Circle of Lone Star Advent Christian Church, the Peace Makers quilting group at Faith Baptist Church, and served on the Virginia Baptist General Board for seven years.

She loved pictures, was a Virginia 4-H All Star, an avid gardener, and enjoyed having the children at the pool during the summer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Cecil McCoy, Sr.; her daughter, Diane Yvonne McCoy; a brother, Charles Leslie Lamb, Jr.; and two sisters, Rose Gibson and Mary Jane Glover. She is survived by her son, Floyd Cecil McCoy, Jr. and wife, Shirley of Millboro; two sisters, Marjorie Jean Ragland and Shirley Dorman, both of Charlottesville: two grandchildren, Stuart McCoy and wife, Renee of Millboro and Suzanne Turner and husband Craig of Burlington, NC; four great grandchildren, Mary Cathrine McCoy, Addison Turner, Caroline Rae Turner and Aaron Turner; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Peggy Nicely and Josie and Wade Bunn.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Moore and Reverend Steve Markham officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Ray Livick, Stuart McCoy, Sam Burke, Joe Wood, C. J. Nicely, Randy Nicely, Gerald Wood and Dennis Hall.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral home and other times at the home of Cecil and Shirley McCoy, 3571 Cowpasture River Highway, Millboro, VA.
