Obituary for Carol Laudermilk Ayers Carol Laudermilk Ayers
Deputy Clerk In Alleghany County Dies At Age 62

Mrs. Carol Laudermilk Ayers, age 62, of 2804 Jackson River Road, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, January 30, 2015, at LewisGale Hospital- Alleghany.

She was the wife of Richard Allen "Rick" Ayers, who preceded her in death on December 12, 2014.

Mrs. Ayers was born May 27, 1952 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Raymond Dempsey Laudermilk and Helen Lemon Laudermilk.

Carol was a graduate of Covington High School Class of 1970 and was employed by Alleghany County Circuit Court System as a deputy clerk with 26 years of service.

She was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church and was active with the Women of the Church, Sunday School, Nursery, and as pianist/organist. She received the Honorary Life Membership award in 2009.

Mrs. Ayers is survived by one daughter, Gina Ayers Tingler and husband, Harry of Covington; two sisters, Cathy L. Rowan and Debra L. Bates, both of Covington; two grandchildren, Kelley Tingler and Adam Tingler; an uncle, William J. Lemon of Roanoke;nieces and nephews, Brandon Rowan, Heather Rowan Riley, Tyler Bates and Sarah Helen Bates; great nephew, Aidan Bryan Riley; special cousin Pamela Shorter Brenner; and special friend, Shirley Varner.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. from McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mike Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Richard Varner, Greg Paxton, Burnett Crawford, Dallas Bates, Brandon Rowan, Ray Thacker, Ed Gibson and Ray Lipes. Honorary Pallbearer will be Fletcher Watson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
