Herman James Tyree, 82, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Golden Living Center.

Born on October 28, 1932, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Leonard and Ella Clark Tyree.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Bernice Huffman Tyree; sisters, Martha Sorrells, Ann Smith and Juanita Andrews; and brothers, Lindsay Tyree, Philander Tyree and Glen Tyree.

Surviving are his children, Melinda Jones and husband, Mike, Herman J. Tyree Jr. (Jimmy) and wife, Ann; also a brother, Early Tyree and wife, Phyllis, of Lexington; two sisters, Isabelle Robertson, of Swope, Va., and Nellie Weiver, of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; and two greatÐgrandchildren.

Mr. Tyree retired from Reeves, and then the City of Buena Vista after nine years of dedicated service.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W.A. Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the funeral home.
