Walter Dale Jr., 92, of Rockbridge County, Virginia, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015.

Walter retired from Sothern States Corp., and was a World War II Air Force veteran, flying out of London in a B17, as a rear gunner.

He leaves his wife, Garnett Shilling Dale; his two sons, Wayne Dale (Enic), from L.P. Md., and Steve Dale (Bead), of Henrico, Va.; four grandchildren, Stormy Dale (L.P., Md.), Holly Dale Jones, (Tyler), of Henrico, Va., Stephen Dale, Jr., of Henrico, Va., and Christy Dale Ross (Scott), of Christiansburg, Va., as well as three great grandchildren.

We want to thank all the people on Memory Care at Symphony Manor: they were so kind and caring. What would we do without Encompass Hospice, what a great team. Thank you.

Walter had Alzheimer's for many years - lost him after 65 years together. Rest in Peace.

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 in the Second Presbyterian Church, 214 Mountain Avenue, SW, Roanoke, VA., in the ColB.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Second Presbyterian Church.
