Obituary for Jerry Allen Jeffries, Sr. Jerry Allen Jeffries, Sr.
Former Local Radio Station Show Host Was Air Force Veteran, Westvaco Retiree

Jerry Allen Jeffries, Sr., age 72 of 1402 Linden Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at his residence.

Jerry was born July 24, 1942 in Clifton Forge to the late Edgar Emmett and Alice Patterson Jeffries.

He served in the United States Air Force and was retired from Westvaco Corporation.

He was the host of the "Sunday Night in Clifton Forge," radio program for WXCF radio station for a number of years.

He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and a former member and past President of the Sharon Ruritan Club.

He was a NASCAR fan and loved bluegrass music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Glenn Jeffries, and two brothers, Edgar E. Jeffries, Jr. and Glenn Jeffries.

He is survived by his wife, Violet Wright Jeffries of Clifton Forge; two sons, Jerry Allen Jeffries, Jr. and wife, Catherine of Fredericksburg, and Michael W. Jeffries and wife, Robin of Eagle Rock; a daughter-in-law, Stacy Jeffries of Clifton Forge; a sister, Doris Stinespring and husband, Harvey of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Bernard Jeffries and wife, Gladys of Clifton Forge and Ronald Jeffries and wife, Joyce of Covington; a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; four grandchildren, Matthew Jeffries, Makayla Jeffries, Jacob Jeffries and Taylor Jeffries; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lynn Wright and Reverend Lee Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
