Obituary for William Edward (Billy) Moore William Edward (Billy) Moore
World War II Army Veteran Was Former Hercules Machine Operator

William Edward (Billy) Moore, 92, of Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Richfield Health Center in Salem.

He was born March 10, 1923 in Walnut Cove, NC., a son of the late Andrew Lewis and Lillian Pullen Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Anderson Moore in 2011, a sister, Margaret Childs, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Childs.

Mr. Moore served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater.

He retired as a machine operator from the former Hercules, Inc. after 20 years of service. Prior working at Hercules he had been employed for 15 years at the former Industrial Rayon.

He was a member of the South Covington United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Bible Class.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Moore and his wife, Tina Pristash Moore of Salem, and Robert Moore of Atlanta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday March 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Cole officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 20, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the South Covington United Methodist Church, Food Pantry, 1900 S. Kadel Ave., Covington, VA 24426.
