FAA Retiree Was Christ Episcopal Church Member, Longtime Special Olympics Supporter

Richard William Glatt, 77, of Fairfield, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born July 29, 1937, in Utica, N.Y., the son of the late R. William and Helen Croissant Glatt.

Richard moved to Virginia in 1960 and spent 42 years working for the FAA, retiring in 2000.

He was a longtime supporter and volunteer with Special Olympics.

He was a past member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Fairfield Moose Lodge.

Richard graduated from Paul Smith's College and Mohawk Valley Technical Institute with degrees in Forestry and Electronics.

Richard is survived by five daughters, Barbara Davis, Deanna Glatt, Michele Mathis, Cindy Poindexter and Heather Mitchell; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild, three sons-in-law; and sister, Pat Dennis.

Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Virginia, 3212 Skipwith Road, Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23294.

The family received friends 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the funeral home. A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
