Obituary for Ira Earl Dobson, Jr. Ira Earl Dobson, Jr.
World War II Army Veteran Was MeadWestvaco Retiree

Ira Earl Dobson, Jr., 90, of 209 E. Locust St., Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday May 5, 2015 at the Brian Center Nursing Home in Low Moor. He was born January 31, 1925, in Covington to the late Ira E. Dobson Sr. and Medister Johhnson Dobson.

Mr. Dobson was a graduate of the former Watson High School in Covington.

He was joined in holy matrimony with the late Mary C. Bowyer Dobson on November 20, 1948.

Mr. Dobson retired in 1987 from MeadWestavco after 43 years with the company.

He was a charter member of the Concerned Christians Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful member and deacon. He was a veteran of World War II with the United Sates Army.

Mr. Dobson leaves behind two sons: Ira Dobson III and wife, Tommie, of Indianapolis, IN, and Edward L Dobson of Upper Marlboro, MD; five grandchildren a number of great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert L Dobson and wife, Charlene, of Christiansburg and Forest Dobson and wife, Annie May, of Buffalo, NY, one sister in law Peggy A. Hughes of Covington and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor William O. Hickman III officiating.

The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with graveside rites by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
