Obituary for Wilbur Layne Tucker Wilbur Layne Tucker
VDOT Retiree Was Hot Springs Resident

Wilbur Layne Tucker, 72, of 86 Lindsay Lane, Hot Springs, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born February 21, 1943 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Joseph K. and Matilda Ann Tingler Tucker.

In addition to his parents Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Dean Tucker, Ryland Odell Tucker and Joseph Knight "Bo" Tucker, and two sisters, Carol Ann Tucker and Leola Jane Madson.

Mr. Tucker retired from Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) after 35 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie Sue Tucker of Hot Springs; his daughter, Jeanne Sue Lindsay and her husband, Jack of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Kelsey Lindsay, Mckenna Lindsay and Nathan Lindsay, all of Hot Springs; three brothers, Charles Samuel Tucker of Clifton Forge; Donald Eugene Tucker of Covington, and William Daniel Tucker of Fincastle; one uncle, Samuel Lewis Tucker of North Carolina, and one aunt, Eloise Arrington of Covington; special friends, Billy and Sherry Ryder of Hot Springs and Roger Smith of Williamsville; "Popeye's" little buddies, Hailey Lindsay of Covington, Korey Ryder and Caylee Boggs, both of Hot Springs, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Garland Humphries officiating.

The interment will be made in Lone Star Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, May 10, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Jeannie and Jack Lindsay, 227 Slatey Bluff Lane, Hot Springs, VA 24445.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Mr. Tucker's name may be made to the Hot Springs Rescue Squad.
