Obituary for Laura Blanche Mutispaugh Laura Blanche Mutispaugh
Lexington Resident Dies At Age 80

Laura Blanche Mutispaugh, 80, of Lexington and Staunton, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015, at her home.

Laura was born November 14, 1934, in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Raymond Orville Nicely and Beatrice Mae Nicely of Lexington.

Laura was a member of the A.R.P. Presbyterian Church for many years, being baptized there in 1948.

Laura had various jobs. She babysat children. She worked at the Lexington Motel Restaurant. She was a secretary at Virginia Military Institute. She worked at Western State Hospital and retired from that facility.

Laura loved gardening and canning. She loved her flowers and her favorite hobby was collecting cookbooks, sharing recipes and going to auctions. She was an excellent cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Mason Martin.

Left to cherish her memories is a very special person, Ron Shover, who was there through her journey of life. Also John Mutispaugh survives, who cared very deeply for her.

Laura was a great mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother.

Laura leaves behind a son, Stanley Mutispaugh and wife, Mary Jane of Buena Vista; a daughter, Gail McLain and husband, Jerry of Craigsville. Also left to cherish her memories are four grandchildren, Jerry, Lesley, Meaghan, and Lauren; and three great grandchildren, Dwayne, Alexis and Jayceon; a special sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Thomas Yates of Lynchburg.

She leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and her beloved cat, "Mr. Bear".

A celebration of life will be held at Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, with the Rev. Benjamin Dowling officiating. Burial will follow at New Monmouth Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015.
