Daughter Of Southern Inn Creators Dies At Age 85; Was Avoid Horse Woman, Golfer Thalia Peter Macheras, 85, of Lexington, Virginia, and Virginia
Beach, died on June 11, 2015.
Born June 10, 1930, she was the daughter of Peter George Macheras and Florence
Gianakos Macheras, who together opened The Southern Inn Restaurant in Lexington
in 1932.
Thalia passed away in Virginia Beach. In her early years she was an
avid horse woman and golfer.
Her siblings preceded her in death, George, Lillie, Nitza, Iris and Helen. She
also has thirteen nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Harrison
Funeral Home Chapel with prayers conducted by Father Nicholas Bacalis of
Richmond. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, alongside her
mother, father, grandmother, and sister.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
