Obituary for Robert Noel Clarke Sr. Robert Noel Clarke Sr.
U. S. Navy Veteran Was Mechanic At Downer Hardware

Robert Noel Clarke Sr., 81 of 5408 Jackson River Road, Covington, Virginia, died, Sunday June 14, 2015 in Lewis Gale Medical Center.

Mr. Clarke was born January 31, 1934, the son of the late John Clarke Sr. and Minnie Noel Clarke.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rena Wilmer and Peggy Crawford, and two brothers, John Clarke Jr. and Gerald Clarke.

He served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Clarke worked as a mechanic at Downer Hardware.

He was a very devoted and active member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church, as well as a friend and supporter of Camp Appalachia.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

Surviving are three daughters, Doreen Main and her husband, Jeff of Deep Gap, N.C., Elizabeth Nagel of Roanoke, and Shana Wolfe and husband, Benjamin of Christiansburg; three sons, Robert Clarke Jr. of North Carolina, George Clarke of Hot Springs, and Mark Clarke of Christiansburg; 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Stull, Barbara Flint and husband, James, and Joyce Knighton and husband, Bill, all of Covington; one brother, Tom Clarke and husband, Sharon of Richmond; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a special friend and preacher, Ray Riddleberger and wife, Kathy.

The memorial service will be Friday, June 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Riddleberger officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
