William Hansford (Shake) Bayne, 80, of Lexington, Virginia, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at his home.

Born June 1, 1935 in Rockbridge County, he a son of the late John Bayne and Mary Horn Bayne.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Bayne and one sister, Lillian Phillips.

Mr. Bayne served his country in the United States Army.

Surviving are his wife, Jane Patterson Bayne of Lexington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. John Choi and Rev. Sonja Oliver officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, but the family will receive friends after the graveside service at the St. John's United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Bill to the St. John's United Methodist Church, 351 East 21st Street, Buena Vista, VA 24416 or to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.
