Roy Lee Cales, 65, of Fairfield, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville, Va.

Born September 5, 1949 in Rockbridge County, he a son of the late Willie Henry Cales and Louise Virginia Cash Cales.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Cales Clark and Betty Cales Burch, and one brother, Willie "Buddy" Cales Jr.

Mr. Cales retired from Burlington Industries with over thirty five years of service.

Roy loved to garden, and could be found sitting on his front porch, smiling and waving at the passing traffic.

He was a great father, brother, and friend. He will be sorely missed.

Surviving are one son, Phillip Michael Cales, of Fairfield, Va.; Joy Lee Cales Buchanan, of Staunton, VA; two brothers, Kenneth Eugene Cales; George Wayne Cales both, of Fairfield; two sisters, Nancy Cales Scott, of Grottoes, Va.; Margie Cales Stahl, of Kent, Ohio; one grandchild, Patrick Buchanan; many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow at McElwee Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
