Shawn Lanette Lockard Truett, age 52, of 728 McCormick Boulevard, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her residence.

Shawn was born July 27, 1962 in Covington, Virginia, to Betty Lou Greene Lockard and late Walter Scott "Sonny" Lockard.

She was an elementary school teacher for Alleghany Highlands Public School, with thirty years of educating children at Sharon Elementary School.

She was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Truett, and son, Cullen Truett, both of Clifton Forge; her mother, Betty Lou Lockard of Valley Ridge, Covington; a sister, Deborah Childs and husband, Kenneth of Charlottesville; a sister-in-law, Amelia O'Connor of Arlington; nephews, Scott Childs and wife, Tara of Richmond and Sean O'Connor of Arlington, and niece, Katherine O'Connor of Spain; and special friends, Susan Bess of Richmond, Mary Lynn Martin of Clifton Forge, and Stephanie Persinger of Clifton Forge.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mallow Presbyterian Church, Covington with Reverend Gary Marshall officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, and other times at the home of Betty Lou Lockard, 2910 Valley Ridge Road, Covington, VA 24426.
