Fairfield Resident Was U. S. Army Veteran, Columbia Gas Transmission Company Office Manager

Albert Franklin Kemp, 89, of Fairfield, Virginia, died on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Kendal.

He was born on April 13, 1926, in Virginia, a son of the late Roy Guy Kemp and Beulah Marr Goldsby Kemp.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Preston Muse Kemp.

Albert served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946, and retired as an office manager from Columbia Gas Transmission Company in 1992.

Surviving are a daughter, Sara Preston Kemp of Lexington; a brother, Robert L. Kemp of Fairfield; and a sister-in-law, Sally Muse of Fairfield.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Cathcart officiating. Burial will follow at Timber Ridge ARP Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450; Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church, 73 Sam Houston Way, Lexington, VA 24450; or to South River Volunteer Fire Department, Fairfield, VA 24435.
