Obituary for Robert Monroe Elmore, Sr. Robert Monroe Elmore, Sr.
Equipment Operator Was Light House Apostolic Church Member

Robert Monroe Elmore, Sr., age 76, of 9802 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his residence.

He was born December 7, 1938 in Low Moor to the late Raymond Lee and Pauline Caldwell Elmore.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Wallace-Byer Construction and was a member of Light House Apostolic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Sue Elmore, and two brothers, Ronald Lee Elmore, Sr. and Charles Edward Elmore, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth Humphries Elmore of Rich Patch, Covington; seven children, Robert Elmore, Jr. and wife, Sara of Low Moor, Connie Gunter and husband, Lee of Covington, Joe Elmore and wife, Amanda of Low Moor, Mary Ellen Elmore of Low Moor, Kathy Lynn Byer of Low Moor, Melissa Jean Clark of Low Moor, and Wesley Edward Elmore and wife, Kristin of Low Moor; a brother, Earl Preston Elmore of Richmond; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Gordon Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, Low Moor.

Pallbearers will be Cody Prior, Dylan Ferris, Bobby Broughman, Jr., William Woods, Brian Potter, Jason Wolfe, James Fridley, and Charles Elmore, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
