Mr. Jeffrey Winstard (Jeff) Hicks, age 61, of Covington, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem.

He was the husband of Barbara Diane Cooke Hicks.

Mr. Hicks was born December 1, 1953 in Covington, the son of the late Harry Winstard Hicks and Juanita Eileen Sarver Hicks.

A lifetime resident of this community, he was employed as an auto mechanics teacher for Mertz Vocational School at Bath County High School.

Jeff was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.

He had a great love of music and played guitar and keyboards in a number of bands including R. B. & The Knights of Soul, Liberation, Klass, Boomer Brothers and The Fender Benders.

In addition to his wife of thirty-eight years, Barbara Diane Cooke Hicks, Mr. Hicks is survived by his son, Casey Stephen Hicks and wife, Courtney; daughter, Kayleigh Eileen Hicks; grandson, Bryce Carter Hicks; a sister, Suzanne Hicks Casey; mother-in-law, Helen Cooke; brother-in-law, Ricky Cooke and wife, June Anne; nieces, Sara Quesinberry and husband, Gabe, Shannon Williams and husband, James, Christie Kinsey and husband, Ronnie; nephew, Stan Cooke and wife, Brooklyn; three great nieces; and three great nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
