Obituary for David Jennings Tardy David Jennings Tardy
Buffalo Farms Owner-Operator Was Rockbridge County Resident

David Jennings Tardy, 66, of Lexington, Virginia, died on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at home.

Born on January 3, 1949, in Lexington, he was the son of Jennings Jackson and Marie Jarvis Tardy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Tardy; and his son-in-law, Tony Conway.

He attended Virginia Commonwealth University before returning home to help run the family dairy farm.

He retired as owner-operator of Buffalo Farms after 37 years. He maintained a Grade A dairy, upgraded operations, and received several awards including ones from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for environmental cleanliness.

He was an active member of the Rockbridge Farmers Cooperative Board, and an office holder in the Effinger Ruritan Club and the Palmer Community Center. He long supported Effinger Volunteer Fire Department events and the Palmer Ice Cream Supper. He was an important member of the Effinger community and loved life in Rockbridge County.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Bennington; daughter, Amanda Tardy Conway; granddaughters, Cora and Louise Conway; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Eddie Clark; nieces, Lindsey Clark Bertozzi and Caitlin Clark; brother, Jack Falls; sister-in-law, Debra Bennington; and nephew, Kevin Bennington and his wife, Cheryl.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Effinger Volunteer Fire Department or Oxford Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Oxford Presbyterian Church with Dr. Horace Douty and the Rev. Bill Harris officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
