Mrs. Dorothy Short Thacker, age 70, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, August 8, 2015, at her residence.

She was the wife of the late Connie Auswald Thacker.

Mrs. Thacker was born March 26, 1945 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Short and Vivian Herndon.

She was employed as a certified nursing assistant.

Dorothy was a member of Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed growing flowers, traveling, fishing and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Thacker is survived by two sons, Richard L. Taylor and wife, Dianna of Louisa and Edwin Kenneth Taylor, Jr. of Austin, TX; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Lee Short, Robert Edward Short, Stuart Stanley and William Stanley; and two sisters, Joyce Malette and Rebecca Harris. She is also survived by her loving companion of 18 years, Monroe Church.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Church officiating. The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 4804 Johnson Creek Road, Covington, VA 24426.
