Obituary for Jack O. Lienhardt, Sr. Jack O. Lienhardt, Sr.
Retired Westvaco Chemist, Manager, Was Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church Member

Jack O. Lienhardt, Sr., 95, of Covington, Virginia, was surrounded by his loving family when he went home to be with the Lord our Savior.

He died Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Lewisburg, WV.

He was born October 25, 1919 in Tyrone, PA, a son of Gustavus and Mary Elder Lienhardt.

Mr. Lienhardt graduated from Penn State University in 1941 with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. He retired from Westvaco in 1984 after forty-three years of service. He was the Manager of Engineering and Process Development.

After retirement, Mr. Lienhardt worked with the International Executive Service Corps and Westvaco for a while as a consultant.

Mr. Lienhardt loved fishing, working Sudoku puzzles, and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the Lions Club in Covington, serving as president in 1961.

He was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Virginia B. Lienhardt and beloved grandson, Samuel D. Banasiak.

Mr. Lienhardt is survived by his son Jack O. "Jay" Lienhardt, Jr. and wife, Judith of Salem, VA; daughter, Jill Lienhardt and husband, Gene L. Banasiak of Riva, MD; grandchildren Jennifer Lienhardt Robinson, and husband, Dustin of Marlinton, WV; Robert M. Lienhardt and wife, Amanda of Champaign, Il, and Cary Banasiak of Riva, MD; and great-grandchildren, Carly E. Robinson of Marlinton, WV; Zachariah P. and Charlotte E. Lienhardt of Champaign, Il; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Russell Urban officiating. Pallbearers are incomplete at this time.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of Loving Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2015 until time of the service. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of donations to Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Inc. which is a membership-based National Park Service, non-profit corporation, at P. O.
