Air Force Veteran Worked With Stonewall Jackson House, Lee Chapel, And The Lexington Visitor Center

Edward George Gorlin, 69, of Lexington, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at his home.

Born February 18, 1946 in New York City, he was a son of the late David Oscar Gorlin and Marie Maglione Gorlin.

Mr. Gorlin was a 1967 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Captain during his tenure.

Ed was a model railroad enthusiast, and his love of history drove him to volunteer at the Stonewall Jackson House and to work as a guide for Washington & Lee at the Lee Chapel. He also worked as a travel counselor/tour guide at the Lexington Visitor Center.

Surviving are his wife of forty eight years, Gloria Varrone Gorlin, of Lexington; two daughters, Lara Manetta, of Florida; Ruth Clendenon, of Arizona; one sister, Claire Marino, of New York and five grandchildren.

A reflection of Ed's life will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Ed to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
