Obituary for William Louis Beard William Louis Beard
Westvaco Retiree Was Alleghany County Native

William Louis Beard, age 73, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born November 9, 1941 in Alleghany County to the late Abram T. and Virginia Slavens Beard.

He was a Bleach Room Operator, retired from Westvaco Corporation of Covington.

He was a former member of Kaiser Memorial Presbyterian Church of Iron Gate, and a member of Cliff View Country Club.

He loved golfing and leaves behind many golfing friends.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Buna Arbutus Clark and a brother, Berlin Thomas Beard.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cahoon Beard of Covington; two daughters, Lisa Kaye Deeds and husband, Richard of Clifton Forge, and Teresa B. Pearman and husband, Neal of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Derek Deeds and wife, Breanna, Analea Deeds, Mauri Deeds, and Emma Pearman; a former sister-in-law, Janet Cahoon of Clifton Forge; a brother-in-law, Billie Cahoon and wife, Lucy of Clifton Forge; a sister-in-law, Betty Dressler and husband, Paul of Covington; two aunts, Gladys Jackson of Hot Springs and Noble Byer of Mountain Grove; six nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Richard Mines and wife, Dreama of Georgia.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Bill Gilliland and Reverend Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will immediately follow.

There will be no formal visitation. Friends may call at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
