Obituary for Mildred Marie Henley Wright Mildred Marie Henley Wright
Homemaker, Salem Methodist Church Member Loved To Travel

Mildred Marie Henley Wright, age 90, of the Brian Health and Rehab Center, Low Moor, Virginia, and formerly of Salem, died Saturday September 12, 2015 at the Brian Center.

She was born November 30, 1924 in Wythe County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Dewey Dawson and Laura Spraker Henley.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Salem.

Mildred was a homemaker throughout her life and loved to travel. Mildred traveled across the U.S. with the Virginia Airstream Club. She traveled with the International Executive Service Corp. to Ecuador.

She loved adventure and even rode in a glider, drove a motorcycle and went parasailing. She loved Baseball and Gardening and was an accomplished seamstress and crafter.

She is remembered as a loving, fun mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Weaver Wright in 2000, and a son, Ron Wright in 2010.

She is survived by a son, Roy Wright and his wife, Ann, of Clifton Forge; daughter, Linda Wheeler and her husband, Steve of Raleigh, NC; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Wright of Salem; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 15th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, officiated by her son, Roy. Her family will receive friends following the service at her home in Salem.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to the Historic Masonic Theater Restoration Project, 510 Main St., Clifton Forge, Va. 24422, or the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, Va. 24457.

The Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge is handling the arrangements.
