Epworth United Methodist Church Member Was Self-Employed Beautician, Founding Member Of Selma Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary

Our grandmother, Kathleen Curtis (Kitty) Weikel, age 91, of Selma, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

She was born September 9, 1924 in Clifton Forge to the late Guy A. "Baldy" and Annie E. Gilliland Curtis.

She was a self-employed beautician and a lifetime member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Selma, where she belonged to the Willing Workers Class.

She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and a founding member of the Selma Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carroll B. "Greek" Weikel; her son, Carroll C. Weikel; daughter-in-law, Catherine Weikel; and two brothers, Paul Curtis and Hayden Curtis.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Dwayne A. Weikel and wife, Cindy of Vinton, Kim Rawson and husband, Robby of Clarksville, and Brian Keith Weikel and wife, Kitty of Blue Ridge; eight great grandchildren, Matt Weikel, BrandonWeikel, Jordan Weikel, Christopher Weikel and wife, Jessica, Joshua Rawson, Amanda Robertson, Daniel Booze and wife, Heather, and Will Hayes; seven great great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Harvey VanBuren and Geraldine Hayslett; and her special pet, "Chessie".

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Epworth United Methodist Church, Selma, with Reverend Nathan Colwell officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at Epworth United Methodist Church.
