Former CliftonWoods Apartments Caretaker Also Worked With Mizzy, H. O. Canfield, and SuperX Drug Store

Minnie Lou Hughes Peters, age 85, of 734 Verge Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, September 18, 2015 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor.

She was the wife of the late McKinley W. Peters, Sr.

She was born June 17, 1930 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late Henry and Minnie Randolph Hughes.

She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Clifton Forge, where she served on the Usher Board, and a member of the Helping Hands Club.

Minnie retired as the Caretaker of CliftonWoods Apartments. She also worked at Mizzy, H.O. Canfield and the former Super X Drug store in Clifton Forge.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Ham, and a brother, Charles Hughes.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Crewes of Lynchburg; a son, McKinley Warren Peters, Jr. and wife, Lori Jordan Peters of Clifton Forge; a sister, Iola Jones of New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Lillie Hughes of Clifton Forge; five grandchildren, Byron Ross and wife, Denise, Warren Ross, James Ross, Charles Ross, and Robert Crewes, Jr. and wife, Ronchellte; very special friends, Evelyn T. Broady, Sylvia Nevils, Delores Quarles, Arlene Cooper, Harry Alston, and Wanda Davis; as well as a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Main Street Baptist Church with Reverend Preston Tyler and Reverend Arlene Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Thursday prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the service.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling the arrangements.
