Obituary for James Marshall Flint Sr. James Marshall Flint Sr.
Rockbridge County Native Was Natural Bridge Baptist Church Member

James Marshall Flint Sr., 84, of Glasgow, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his home.

Born October 17, 1931 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Charles Henry and Ruth Huffman Flint.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles William Flint, and a sister, Edna Flint Davis.

Mr. Flint was a member of the Natural Bridge Baptist Church, and proud member of the Class of 1950 at Natural Bridge High School.

After serving in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, he worked for Virginia Stage Lines (Trailways) for nearly thirty years.

The Flints ran the Old Natural Bridge General Store for nearly fifteen years.

Marshall was also a member of the Glasgow Masonic Lodge #233 for over forty two years.

Surviving him are his wife of sixty four years, LeVonne Jennings Flint; and three sons, James Marshall Flint Jr. (Jimmy) and wife, Karen, Charles Robert Flint (Chuck) and wife, Becky, and Steven Ware Flint (Steve) and wife, Stephanie. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Chris Flint, Andi Bradley, Robbie Flint, Olivia Flint, Matthew Flint, Jennifer Funkhouser, and Chris Funkhouser; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Flint, Lexi Flint, and Kayleigh Funkhouser; and his canine buddy, Sur.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Natural Bridge Baptist Church with the the Rev. Randy Smith and the Rev. W. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Natural Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Members of the Trailways family will act as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
