Marita French Mays Murray, 95, of Lexington, Virginia, died Monday, November 2, 2015 at her home.

Born May 10, 1920 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Edward Franklin Mays and Mary Hartbarger Mays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fletcher Murray.

Mrs. Murray was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, Virginia, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was survived and loved by a niece, Martha Freundner and family from California; cousins, Carolyn German McDonald and husband, Clint, Maralee German; other cousins, friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank Rockbridge Area Hospice and her wonderful caregivers, Patty and Gary Butler, Sissy Snider, Dee Engleman, and Sherry Wolfe.

A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Marita to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.
