Obituary for Ruth Gum Roberts Ruth Gum Roberts
West Virginia Native Was Long Mallow Presbyterian Church Member

Ruth Gum Roberts of 800 Stratton Street, Covington, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 12, 2015.

Mrs. Roberts was born in Cass, WV, a daughter of the late Alfred Garfield Gum and Mary Lyle Gum.

She was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church, where she had served as Bible Moderator and as a member of the Ladies Circle.

She was an animal lover, devoted to her cats.

Ruth loved cooking and baking and sending cards to her family and friends. She was a longtime fan of country music.

Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Vaughn Roberts of Covington; three daughters, Angela Jones and her husband, Dennis, and Cindy Woods and her husband, Dale, all of Covington; and Carol Yvonne Roberts of Phoenix, AZ; her granddaughter, Stacey Bradley Kaiser and her husband, Lance, of Wilmington, NC; her grandson, Travis Bradley, of Covington; two step grandsons, Brandon Jones and his wife, Rachel, of Covington and Scott Jones and his wife, Jennifer, of Broadway; her great grandson, Nathan Kaiser, of Wilmington, NC; her step great grandson, Desmond Jones, of Covington; two step great granddaughters, Mia Jones, of Broadway and Kayleah Jones of Covington; one sister, Ethel Hiner of Covington; two brothers, Clyde Gum and his wife, Pearl, of Meadow Bridge, WV, and Jimmy Gum and his wife, Garnett, of Goshen; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her special caregivers and the Mountain Regional Hospice personnel.

The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. William Hartsfield officiating assisted by the Rev. Gary Marshall.

Entombment will be made in the Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. Monday until service time at Arritt Funeral Home.

The family suggests that donations in Mrs. Roberts' name be made to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457, or to Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
