Obituary for Virginia Elizabeth Croy Brown Decker Virginia Elizabeth Croy Brown Decker
Retired Alleghany County School System Teacher Was West Virginia Native

Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Croy Brown Decker, age 91, formerly of Covington, Virginia, died Friday, November 20, 2015, at Waynesboro Manor, Waynesboro, VA.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Henry Brown, Sr. and her second husband, Alfred Lynn Decker, Sr.

Mrs. Decker was born September 19, 1924 in McComas, WV, the daughter of the late Earl Washington Croy, Sr. and Lera Blankenship Croy.

Virginia graduated from Lynchburg College with a degree in Education and Social Services. During her working career, she was employed as a teacher by the Alleghany County School System from 1944 until 1946 before retiring in 1989 from the Saugerties, NY School System after thirty-eight years of service. Following her retirement, Mrs. Decker returned to Covington, where she was a member of Calvary Christian Church.

Mrs. Decker is survived by two sons, William Henry Brown, Jr. and wife, Beverly of Bedford and Croy McClain "Mac" Brown and wife, Josephine of Selma; six grandchildren, William H. Brown, III, Rachel Michelle Brown, Thomas Shelton Brown, Ronald Michael Vedder, Ian McClain Brown and Shawn Vincent Brown; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Earl Washington Croy, Sr. and Lera Blankenship Croy, her first husband, William Henry Brown, Sr., ND her second husband, Alfred Lynn Decker, Sr.

Mrs. Decker was preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Croy and Earl W. Croy, Jr.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Mike Warren officiating.

Those wishing to attend the service should assemble at Loving Funeral Home by 1:15 p.m.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
