Retired CSX Machinist Was U. S. Air Force Veteran

James Elmer (Jim) Turner, age 73 of 3506 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor.

Jim was born November 20, 1942 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late James Elmer Turner, Sr. and Muriel Juanita Dean Turner of Clifton Forge.

He was a retired machinist with CSX Transportation, was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the Clifton Forge Moose Lodge # 1683, and the Cliftondale Country Club.

He loved hunting and fishing and was a loyal Virginia Tech Fan.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Suchnicki Turner of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Debra Ann Sirrine and husband, Jon of Orange Park Florida; two sons, James Michael "Mike" Turner and wife, Susan of Amherst, and Steven Edwin Turner and wife, Shiori of Selma; a sister, Bonnie Laquintano and husband, Tony of Charlottesville; two brothers, Gerald "Jerry" Turner and wife, Sue of Jacksonville, Florida, and Scott Marsh and wife, Crystal of Clifton Forge; four grandchildren, Saya Elizabeth Turner, Sienna Ezabell Turner, Devin Johnson and Jesse Johnson; also a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with the Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggest that memorial contributions in Jim's name be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905.
