Obituary for Clara Frances Godbey Kelley Clara Frances Godbey Kelley
Radford Native Was Longtime Member Of The First Christian Church

Clara Frances Godbey Kelley, age 91, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at her home.

She was the daughter of the late John L. and Minnie Long Godbey.

Frances was born January 11, 1924 in Radford, Virginia. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Clifton Forge.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James B. Kelley, Sr. in 2001, and by three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by a son, James B. Kelley, Jr. and wife, Nola of Millboro; a daughter, Kay Curtis and husband, Jerry of Clifton Forge; two granddaughters, Jennifer Slaughter and husband, Jason of Roanoke, and Erin Kelley of Millboro; a grandson, Justin Curtis of Roanoke; two great grandsons, Caedon Friski of Millboro and Caleb Slaughter of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Fran also leaves behind four very special caregivers: Pat, Ashley, Mary Ann, and Susan.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Glenn Clements officiating. As per her wishes, there will be no family visitation or formal funeral service.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling arrangements.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Fran's name to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
