Methodist Church Member Was Longtime Area Resident, Worked As Clerk for Carter Store In Selma

Mildred Louise Carter Pullen, age 98, of The Brian Center in Low Moor, Virginia, died Monday, December 14, 2015 at The Brian Center.

She was born October 5, 1917 to the late Lorenza Maynard and Mary Roane Anderson Carter.

She was a store clerk for Carter's Store in Selma and enjoyed years of babysitting her granddaughter and great grandchildren.

She was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Orrin Pullen; a sister, Mary Helen Armentrout; and three brothers, L. M. Carter, Jr., Harry Louis Carter and D. L. Carter II.

She is survived by her daughter, Rita Totten and husband Gail of Clifton Forge; a sister, Virginia Carter Miller of Selma; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Carter of Selma; a granddaughter, Suzanne Adcock and husband, Matthew of Clifton Forge; three great grandchildren, Tyler Adcock, Carter Adcock and Braden Adcock, all of Clifton Forge; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Barbara Miller Tucker.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Mr. Tommy Tucker officiating.

The family will assemble on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, then proceed to the cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. However, the family will receive friends following the service at the home of Suzanne and Matt Adcock, 1010 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Brian Center Activities Fund, 100 ARH Lane, Low Moor, VA 24457 or to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
