Longtime First National Exchange Bank Employee Was West Virginia Native, Granbery Memory United Methodist Church Member

Mrs. Phyllis Lee Burns Bosserman, age 91, of Covington, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA.

She was the wife of the late William Ernest Bosserman, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 31, 1985.

Mrs. Bosserman was born March 28, 1924 in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Andrew Gilmer Burns, Sr. and Dorotha Jean Reese Burns.

She was a loyal employee of First National Exchange Bank in Covington for forty-one years. Mrs. Bosserman was a member of the Covington Women's Club, the Alleghany Historical Society, and was a former volunteer at the Clifton Forge Arts and Craft Center. Phyllis was a faithful and longtime member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bosserman is survived by a number of nieces and nephews including her niece and caretaker, Anne B. Reid of Covington.

In addition to her parents, Andrew Gilmer and Dorotha Jean Reese Burns, and her husband, William Ernest Bosserman, Jr., Mrs. Bosserman was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Rowe and Carol Chelis and three brothers, Andrew Gilmer "Bobby" Burns, Jr., William Lewis Burns and F. Lambert Burns.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Russell Urban officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church and at other times at the residence of Anne B. Reid, 301 Dusty's Road, Covington.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church, 425 W. Main Street, Covington, VA 24426 or The Brian Center Nursing Care Patient Activity Fund, 100 ARH Lane, Low Moor, VA 24457.
