Pastor John Arthur Brumit, 71, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015.

He was born June 23, 1944, in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of the late David Decatur Brumit and Minnie Vanice Rowland Brumit.

He served the citizens of Buena Vista and Rockbridge County for 26 years as the pastor of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Barbara Parsley Brumit; sons, John Arthur Brumit II and wife, Jaunice, Robert Harrison Brumit and wife, Michele, David Benjamin Brumit and wife, Kimberly and Stephen Gregory Broyles and wife, Joy; five grandchildren, Jonathan Andrew Brumit, Shaina Brumit Smith, Caleb Anthony Brumit, Joshua Lynn Brumit, and David Solomon Brumit; and two great-grandchildren, Melanie Scarlett and Daniel Prescott Smith; and one brother, David Grant Brumit and wife, Kay.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Blue Ridge Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
