Retired MeadWestvaco Supervisor Dies At Age 88

David Randolph Reynolds, 88, of 113 Golden Rod Drive, Covington, Virginia, died Friday morning, January 1, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Reynolds was born July 27, 1927 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Willliam McKinley Reynolds and Vida Pearl Arrington Reynolds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife, Leila Dressler "Bobbie" Reynolds, a Daughter, Kay Ray, and two Brothers, William "Bud" Reynolds and Ray Reynolds.

He retired as a Supervisor from MeadWestvaco in 1989 after 43 years with the company.

He was a longtime member of the McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Frank Sponaugle, of Covington; his son-in-law, Buck Ray of Covington; two grandsons, Matt Sponaugle and his wife, Lisa, of Covington and David Sponaugle and his wife, Angela, of Mechanicsville; his granddaughter, Amy Ray, of Covington; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Sponaugle, Kellen Sponaugle, Olivia Sponaugle and Natalie Sponaugle; his sister, Helen Riddlebarger, of Brookneal and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated. The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating.

The family suggests that donations in Mr. Reynolds' name be made to the Kay Ray Memorial Fund at DSLCC, 1000 Dabney Drive, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
