Retired Canfield, Arcadia Operator Dies At Age 68

Charles Edward Moore, Sr., age 68, of 2704 Egbert Street, Low Moor, Virginia, died Sunday, January 10, 2015 at 1119 Cherokee Trail, Covington.

He was born July 3, 1947 in Virginia to the late John Thomas and Ruth Naomi Blakey Moore.

He was a retired operator for H.O. Canfield and Arcadia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, "Stu" Moore.

He is survived by a son, Charles E. "Mookie" Moore, Jr. of Covington; four sisters, Josephine V. Phillips of Columbus, OH, Ollie Painter and husband, John of Dayton, OH, Ruth Y. Turney and Constance Pryor; a brother, Charles W. Moore of Columbus, OH; two granddaughters, Desiree N. Moore and Jasmine C. Moore; a number of nieces and nephews; special cousin, Ervin Moore; special friends, Frank Roland (Lee), Reggie Dean, Greg Fourqurean, Johnnie Rogers, Matt, Junior, Bucky and many others.

He is also survived by a special woman that has been in his life for many years, his girlfriend, Katherine Gaines.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Low Moor with Reverend Matthew T. Barnette, Sr. officiating.

Following the service, the body will be cremated. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
