Professional Carpenter, Handyman Was Portsmouth Native

Arthur Sullivan (Butch) Kimberlin, Jr., 72, of 9719 Maury River Road, Goshen, VA, died Wednesday January 27, 2016.

He was born in Portsmouth, VA, on August 5, 1943, and resided in Goshen Virginia, for the past 15 years.

He went to Groveton High School in Alexandria, VA, before becoming a professional painter, as well as a professional carpenter and handyman.

Butch led a full life and was well-loved by everyone who knew him.

Throughout his life, he never knew a stranger and was always willing to do whatever he could to help a friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Sullivan Kimberlin Sr.

Butch is survived by his mother, Christine Paxton Kimberlin of Goshen; three children: Chrystal Kimberlin Plaugher of Waynesboro, Arthur Sullivan Kimberlin III, of Goshen, and Kathleen Hewitt of Gainesville; four grandchildren: Jacob Plaugher, Leanna Plaugher, and Haley Plaugher, all of Waynesboro; and Ben Hewitt of Gainesville. He also leaves behind his friend and caregiver Betty Wilhelm of Goshen, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Surviving siblings include Margaret Fridley and her husband, Jack, of Covington, Pearl Tenley of Perkasie, PA, Erma Lee Forbes of Roanoke, Peggy Stoops and her husband, Bill, of Palm Harbor FL, Barbara Raphael and her husband, Mike, of Fredericksburg, and Gary Kimberlin and his wife, Debbie, of Woodbridge.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at Goshen Baptist Church in Goshen with Rev. Scott Reece officiating. Burial of Butch's cremains will take place for his family at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington.

A Butch Kimberlin Memorial Fund is being established.
