West Virginia Native Worked With Industrial Rayon, Halmode Apparel

Mrs. Virginia Bradley Harter, age 94, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

She was the wife of the late Stuart Grey "Buddy" Harter.

Mrs. Harter was born December 5, 1921 in West Virginia, the daughter of the late John Marshall Bradley and Allie Palmer Bradley.

During her working career, she had been employed by the former Industrial Rayon Corporation and as a floor supervisor by the former Halmode Apparel, Inc.

Mrs. Harter was a member of Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Virginia was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

Mrs. Harter is survived by a son, Stuart Bradley Harter and wife, Beth of Bridgewater; a daughter, Sara Harter Dressler and husband, Tim of Westgate; a granddaughter, Margot R. Harter; a brother, Charles Bradley of Covington; three sisters, Allie Humphreys and husband, Milton of Covington, Regina Via of Covington and Bessie "Icy" Bradley, who made her home with Virginia; a sister-in-law, Betty Harter Loving; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Stuart Grey "Buddy" Harter, and parents, John Marshall and Allie Palmer Bradley, Mrs. Harter was preceded in death by four brothers, John Bradley, Edward Bradley, Rufus Guy Bradley and Ivan Hobert Bradley and a sister, Imogene Barger.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
