Obituary for Calvin Decker Cummings Calvin Decker Cummings
Lexington Resident Worked With Centel, Southern States Cooperative

Calvin Decker Cummings, 75, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at University of Virginia Hospital.

Born November 11, 1940 in Lexington, he was the son of the late Walter Laughlin Cummings and Eugenia Decker Cummings.

Mr. Cummings was a member of the Collierstown Presbyterian Church.

Calvin worked for Virginia Telephone & Telegraph (Centel) for many years and then as a truck driver for Southern States until retirement.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Hotinger Cummings of Lexington; two sons, Jerry Cummings and wife, Penny of Hobe Sound, Fla., Larry Cummings and wife, Teresa of Lexington; two granddaughters, Christina Hatcher and Erika Cummings.

A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Skip Hasting officiating. Burial will be private at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Calvin to the Rockbridge SPCA, P. O. Box 528, Lexington, VA 24450.
