Obituary for Aaron Lee Rucker Aaron Lee Rucker
IT Technician Was Selma Resident

Aaron Lee Rucker, age 25, of 1108 Staunton Street, Selma, Virginia, died Friday, March 4, 2016, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

He was born June 13, 1990 in Low Moor, Virginia, to Teddy Lee Rucker and Judith Carter Nicely.

He was a graduate of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College and was an I.T. Technician.

He was a member of Iron Gate Baptist Church, the Selma Volunteer Fire Department, and the Lexington Fire Department.

He was beloved by all.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Eva Rucker and a cousin, Owen Mays.

He is survived by his parents, Judith Nicely and David (Charlie Nicely) of Selma, and Teddy and Gloria Rucker of Hot Springs; grandparents, Frederick and Judith Carter of Selma and Mary Nicely of Clifton Forge; brothers, Casey Thompson and wife, Olivia of Clifton Forge Seth Thompson of Blue Ridge, Dustin Russell and wife, Megan of Lynchburg, Christopher Fitch of Clifton Forge, Jonathan Fitch of Clifton Forge, Grant Linthicum of Iron Gate, and Joe Coffman of Clifton Forge; a God sister, Carrigan Ryann Cahoon; aunts and uncles, Lucy and Milton Mays of Clifton Forge, Anna and Bernie Thomas of Eagle Rock, Dickie and Katherine Conner of Clifton Forge, Donna and Robbie Weaver, and their girls, of Hot Springs, John Rucker of Cape Cod, MA, his aunt Jackie and uncle Roderick and their children; two nephews, Eli Russell and Gunner Thompson; special cousins, Chelsea Mays and Riley Mays; and special friends, Chris Cahoon, Kevin Cahoon, and all the members of the Selma Volunteer Fire Department.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Colwell officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Chris Fitch, John Fitch, Casey Thompson, Seth Thompson, Grant Linthicum, Chris Cahoon, Kevin Cahoon and Joe Coffman. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Selma Volunteer Fire Department.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
