Mauerice Loran Byers, 82, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born on December 11, 1933, in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Harry Byers and Mildred Campbell Byers.

He is survived by his son, Maury Byers and wife, Linda; and daughter, Laurie Byers Armstrong and husband, John; and grandchildren, Courtney Lindsey, John Byers, Christopher Byers, Comptonne Byers, Cayle Byers, Ali Armstrong, Waite Armstrong, Graham Armstrong, and Cailee Byers; and great-grandchildren, Christianna May Colani Lindsey, Taitum Layne Lindsey, and Teagan Layce Lindsey; brothers, Clyde E. Byers, and Lemuel S. Byers; and sister, LaVone B. Chaplin.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at Buena Vista Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryon LePere officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home.
