Eagle Rock Native Was Nurse, Evanglist Missionary

Pearlie Earsiel Sandidge, age 67, of 213 Loblolly Lane, Amherst, Virginia died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at her residence.

She was born February 6, 1949 in Eagle Rock, Virginia, to the late Asberry Godfrey and Bernice Burks Godfrey.

She was a registered nurse at DaVita Dialysis Unit.

She was a member of Jackson Memorial Church of God in Christ and an Evangelist Missionary.

She also attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Amherst, where she was an assistant to the pastor and also played the piano.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Justice C. Sandidge, Sr.; sister, Virginia Ellen Sandidge; a brother, Robert Godfrey; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Godfrey; and a granddaughter, Lakeisha Byrd.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Sandidge of Amherst; eight daughters, Pearlie Earsiel Sandidge of Lynchburg, Robin Lynn Sandidge of Roanoke, Debra Cooper of Roanoke, Virginia Ann Bannister of Roanoke, Wanda F. Smothers of Covington, Cathy M. Reynolds and husband, Aaron of Roanoke, Bernice Sandidge of Cloverdale, and Tammie Sandidge of Roanoke; four sons, Michael Godfrey and wife, Laurie Lanpher of Upper Marlboro, MD, Allen Godfrey and wife, Lisa of Chesterfield, Justice Sandidge, Jr. and wife, Deneen of Fincastle, and Jeffrey Sandidge of Roanoke; five step sons, James L Sandidge, Reverend Rodney A. Sandidge, Dwayne B. Sandidge, Cheyenne M. Sandidge and Michael E. Turner; seven step daughters, Eunice D. Sandidge, Margie R. Blakey, Angela D. Scott, Diane R. Sandidge, Marilyn M. Glover, Monica D. Revely, and Monique L. Harris; a sister, Kathleen Robinson of Clifton Forge and a spiritual sister Myra Godfrey of Iron Gate; four brothers, Elder DeLawrence Godfrey of Iron Gate, Bruce Godfrey of Clifton Forge, Arthur Godfrey of Clifton Forge, and Steven Godfrey of Iron Gate; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Iron Gate Advent Christian Church, Iron Gate, with Reverend Rodney Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
